Editor’s Views - February 2001

Welcome to the February edition of Cricketcrazy.

The England team have departed for Sri Lanka with new found confidence but the Sri Lankans will be a very tough Challenge. The Pakistan spin threat never really materialised but England will find Muralitharan on his home soil to be a very difficult proposition. Details of the main tour dates can be found here. We wish the boys well for the Tour.

The war of words with the Aussies has kicked off well in advance of their arrival in the Summer. Steve Waugh and Glen McGrath have said that they are too strong for England and a 5-0 thrashing is the the most likely result. The Aussies are a great side but I am sure the England team will rise to the challenge of the over confident visitors. The main difference between the sides could be the pace of Brett Lee, who is yards faster than his nearest rival. The Seam attacks should be fairly well matched in English conditions.

The A team have been doing well in the West Indies and in particular Surrey’s Ian Ward. The Left hander has hit three hundreds in successive matches and has picked the right time to bring his ability to the attention of the selectors.

The prizes for this month’s competition are some excellent Johnners products. We have the very latest book edited by Barry Johnston and an audio tape featuring some of the famous Johnners gaffs.

Best Wishes

Ed.
